Our History

Throughout history God has called men and women to exercise a Christian ministry in his work. Many have responded responsibly to that call to “come after me and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 5:19). An integral part of the response to that call includes reparation and training within a biblical and theological context where the necessary tools are acquired to show efficiently and effectively.

Mizpa was born in Puerto Rico in 1937 precisely to train men and women for the kingdom of God. With a history of great excellence in biblical studies, MIZPA is considered the oldest school in Latin American Pentecostalism.

In 1973, under the direction of Rvdo. José and Emilia Martínez Espada, the Certificate Program in Biblical Studies is organized in the city of Miami. Then the headquarters of the Christian Mizpa University is moved to the city of Orlado with the purpose of centralizing the works.

In August 2006 the Mizpa College and Theological Seminary was founded and incorporated, in affiliation with Mizpa Christian University, accredited by “Accrediting Commission International” (Non-governmental Accreditation Agency) and the National Council of Private Colleges and Universities, it is the educational institution of The Pentecostal Church of God International Movement at the service of the Lord’s Church for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, governed by the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the Sacred Scriptures, is commissioned to offer this preparation and spiritual enrichment to all the brothers interested in training for their formation, strengthening, improvement and spiritual and intellectual development that allows them to eventually become pastors, evangelists, missionaries, teachers, counselors, lay leaders of the vanguard. Because we are affiliated with Mizpa Christian University, we not only offer Certificate-level studies, but we also offer university-level programs.

Declaration of faith

We believe …

1. Holy Spirit

That the Holy Spirit is a divine person sent to inhabit, guide, teach and empower the believer, and convince the world of sin, justice and judgment. Baptism in Holy Spirit and fire, is the promise of the Father for all believers and with it comes the investiture of power to serve in holiness. This wonderful anointing is distinct and subsequent to the experience of the new birth. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit in the believers has as initial evidence the physical sign of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives them to speak.

2. We are created in the image of God

1That man was created by God in his image and likeness, but fell, in transgression because of disobedience and as a consequence of his sin he lost his spiritual life and was subject to the power of Satan. All men are born with a sinful nature and are separated from the life of God, being able to be saved only by repentance towards God and Faith in the vicarious sacrifice of Christ on the cross of Calvary.

3. Jesus Christ

That Jesus Christ is true God and true man. It was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. By dying on the cross, the righteous for the unjust, made atonement for our sins, for his shed blood. He, having given himself up for the cleansing of our sins, rose from the dead according to the Scriptures and sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high as our High Priest.

4. In the Bible

That the Bible, Old and New Testament, is the Word of God; the revelation of God to man. This was verbal and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, thus constituting an infallible rule of faith and conduct for the human being.

5. Unique and True God

That the one true God has revealed himself existing eternally in three divine persons, namely: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who have the same nature, attributes and perfections, and are worthy of the same homage, trust and obedience.

6. In the Church

That the true Church is composed of all the believers in Christ, born again, from the Day of Pentecost until its Second Coming; and that the local church is a congregation of believers whose mission is to provide communion and edification to the saints and to communicate the gospel to the whole world through a Christian life and witness.

“AT THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST, WHICH INCLUDES THE RAPTURE OF THE SAINTS, THE BLESSED HOPE OF THE BELIEVER, FOLLOWED AFTER A PERIOD NOT LESS THAN SEVEN (7) YEARS OVER THE VISIBLE RETURN OF CHRIST WITH HIS SAINTS TO REIGN IN THE LAND THROUGH A THOUSAND YEARS.”
